Custom-built tag-a-long trailers from 6 ton through 25 ton, manufactured one at a time by a single craftsman at Overbilt Trailer Company.
What we build in this category
Tag-a-long trailers connect to a standard rear hitch or pintle behind your truck’s rear axle. They’re the most popular choice for contractors, landscapers, rental companies, and equipment operators who move skid steers, mini excavators, small dozers, backhoes, and utility equipment between jobsites. Because a tag-a-long uses a standard hitch interface, it’s easy to rotate between multiple trucks in a fleet — unlike a gooseneck, which requires a truck bed fitted for coupler connection.
Every trailer is spec’d around your actual equipment. We build:
-
Capacity ranges:
6 ton, 10 ton, 14 ton, 20 ton, and 25 ton
-
Deck lengths:
typically 14 ft to 26 ft, custom lengths available
-
Deck widths:
82 in to 102 in
-
Axle configurations:
tandem or triple, spring or torsion suspension, electric or air brakes
-
Loading options:
standard slide-in ramps, spring-assisted ramps, or beavertail configurations
-
Options:
stake pockets, rub rails, toolboxes, winches, LED lighting packages, custom paint
Who buys Overbilt tag-a-long trailers
Construction contractors, rental companies, utility crews, landscaping companies, oilfield service companies, and equipment dealers across the United States. Customers who’ve outgrown a factory-stamped catalog trailer and need a build that actually matches their fleet — or who rotate trailers between multiple trucks and need the flexibility a standard hitch provides.
When a tag-a-long is the right choice
-
Your loads are under 25,000 lb and won’t grow beyond that
-
You need to swap the trailer between multiple trucks without modifying each one
-
You prefer a lower entry cost than a comparable gooseneck
-
Your loading setup works with standard ramps
If your loads are above 25,000 lb or you expect to haul above that within 24 months, look at our
gooseneck trailers
instead — the gooseneck’s in-bed connection gives you more capacity, tighter turning, and better stability. If your equipment is tall or low-clearance and standard ramps are slow, look at our
tilt trailers
.
What makes ours different
Every Overbilt trailer is built by a single craftsman from frame-up through final inspection. Not an assembly line. Not a production crew. One person accountable for the whole trailer. The welds, the axle alignment, the brake plumbing, the deck — the work of someone who owns the outcome and signs the final build.
We spec the trailer around your equipment, not a catalog. Tell us what you haul and how you use it, and we’ll come back with a configuration that fits.
